Entrance Ceremony of Nitobe Program for Graduate Students was held on Saturday, 14 May, from 1:30 p.m. at Lecture Room N1, Institute for the Advancement of Higher Education Building.
As a result of screening, 81 students out of 89 applicants from 17 graduate schools was admitted and 78 students actually entered Nitobe Program for Graduate Students.
Entrance Ceremony was held with participation of Prof. Takahiko Nitta, Deputy Principal of Nitobe School (Director and Vice President of Hokkaido University), Mr. Takashi Ishiyama, President of Hokkaido University Federation Alumni Association (Chairman of the Board and Director, Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co., Ltd), Mr. Teppei Yasunari, Mentor of Nitobe School (Assistant Professor of Graduate School of Engineering) and new Nitobe School students.
At the ceremony, the Deputy Principal Nitta and Mr. Ishiyama, the guest of honor made congratulatory speeches to the students and encouraged students to become a leader in global society. Then Prof. Yasunari gave lecture titled “What do you expect for Nitobe School?” based on his own experience how he endeavored to make his career.
Following to the entrance ceremony, “ice- break and self-introduction”, the second session of Nitobe School I- Start-up Course was held by the visiting lecturer Mr. Kenta Nakamura (PRAG, Ltd) at Seminar Room, Frontier Research in Applied Sciences Building. Students of Nitobe School learned group work and effective self-promotion through coursework and practical training.
